been around the net: studs make everything better

We are moving soon and I’m looking for ways to spruce up our furniture and came upon this too cute table. The article written by Natalie Walton from real living  (photography Chris Warnes) even came with a shopping list – are studs the new bedazzled  – I know too much!  I will repost once I have a play date with studs and my hot glue gun. Here’s what Natalie shared:

Fashion design often adds studs to handbags, shoes and belts, so take a cue from the pages of your favourite glossy and customise a table. All you need are some studs and a hot-glue gun. We created a mosaic design but play around with patterns you like before fixing the studs to the tabletop.

Step 1 Clip the metal arms off the metal fashion studs to create a flat surface on each. (Not necessary if you have studs with flat bases.)

Step 2 Arrange studs on tabletop. We grouped 2 lines of studs side by side, running horizontally and vertically, about 5cm apart.

Step 3 Heat glue gun and use to adhere studs to tabletop.

Step 4 Allow to dry for about 24 hours before moving or placing anything on the table.

Materials

  • Metal fashion studs
  • Craft cutters
  • Hot-glue gun and glue sticks (All from Spotlight)
